History of Sialkot Pakistan

Sialkot is a city in Punjab, Pakistan.  It is  Pakistan’s 13th most populous city and is located in north-east Punjab. Sialkot is one of the most industrial cities in Pakistan.The city has a long and rich history dating back to ancient times.

According to historical records, the area that is now Sialkot was settled as early as the Indus Valley Civilization, which flourished in the region from 2500 to 1900 BCE. The city was also an important center of the Gandhara Civilization, which flourished in the region from the 1st to the 5th centuries CE.

During the Mughal era, which lasted from the 16th to the 19th centuries, Sialkot was an important center of trade and commerce. The city was also an important center of Sufism, with many Sufi shrines and religious schools located in the area.

In the 19th century, the British colonized the region and Sialkot became part of the British Indian Empire. After the partition of India in 1947, the city became part of the newly-formed state of Pakistan.
