History of Omar Hayat Mahal

 Omar Hayat Mahal Chinioi (1871-1942) was a poet, writer, journalist, social reformer, politician, and freedom fighter who played a major role in the Indian independence movement. He was born in 1871 in a village called Chiniot in Punjab the province of Pakistan. His father’s name was Muhammad Hayat Khan and his mother’s name was Khadija Begum.

He was educated at the Government College Lahore and then went to England where he studied law. In 1893, he returned to India and joined the Congress party. He became close friends with Gandhi and Nehru. He was imprisoned several times for his political activities. He died in 1942.

Chiniot is a city located in the district of Sialkot in Pakistan. It is famous for its historical monuments, including the tomb of Sufi saint Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai. There are many shrines dedicated to saints and religious figures in Chiniot. One of them is the shrine of Baba Farid Ganj Shakarwala.Chiniot is also well known for its traditional clothing. Women wear colorful dresses and men wear embroidered shirts.Chiniot is also famous for its handicrafts. Many local artists sell their work in the bazaars of the city.
