Lahore Fort, also known as the Red Fort, is located in Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan. It was built by Emperor Aurangzeb in 1671 and was the residence of the Mughal emperors until 1857. The Lahore Fort is a  complex built by the Mughal Emperors. The Lahore Fort in Lahore, Pakistan is a large complex of fortifications, marble mosques, and palaces built by Mughal Emperor Akbar, known as Akbar the Great.

The fort was built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in 1648 and was his summer residence until 1653, when he moved to Agra Fort. It was built as a result of a series of disasters that struck Shah Jahan’s empire in the late 16th century. In 1592, his son Dara Shikoh was murdered by courtiers at Agra Fort. After Dara Shikoh’s death, his widow Queen Nur Jahan became regent for Prince Muhammad Akbar and ruled from Lahore between 1592 and 1601. After her death in 1611, her son Aurangzeb became emperor and had Shah Jahan executed for treason.

The fort is known for its architecture and gardens. It has a beautiful landscape with many gardens which are decorated with fountains and trees including mango trees and coconut palms.

After the Mughal Empire fell in the 18th century, the Lahore Fort was ransacked and many of its buildings were damaged. However, it has now been carefully restored, allowing visitors to enjoy its original splendor.

The Lahore Fort houses three museums, the Mughal Museum, the Armoury Gallery, and the Sikh Museum, each containing a series of interesting exhibits.

Lahore Fort is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that stands on the banks of River Ravi in Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan.

The fort is a major tourist attraction in the city of Lahore, and it can be seen from the outer walls of the nearby Allama Iqbal Park. The fort was later attacked and conquered by Ahmad Shah Durrani (the founder of Afghanistan), who held it briefly during his invasion of India in 1747–48 (see Siege of Lahore).
